MAI 2026 - A STOP ON THE BASQUE COAST
On our way from San Sebastián to Bilbao, we decided to make a stop in Zumaia, a small town on Spain's northern coast.
The idea came from a local we met in a pintxos bar. He told us that Acantilados del Flysch was one of the most beautiful places in the region and, in his opinion, the best surf spot around. That was enough to convince us.
The weather wasn't exactly on our side. Rain clouds followed us all morning, but somehow we were rewarded with a short 30-minute window of clear skies—just enough time to explore.
The beach was almost empty. The surfers were all out in the water, leaving the shoreline completely to ourselves.
What struck us most were the cliffs and rock formations. Their layered structure looked almost unreal, shaped by millions of years of geological history. Standing there, with the Atlantic crashing against the rocks, it felt like stepping into another world.
