I have been dreaming of going to the Bardenas Reales for so many years that I can no longer remember when or how I first discovered this place. I guess it was probably through a movie, as the landscape has apparently been used as a setting for quite a few films.

This place was always in the back of my mind, and we decided to go there to shoot our new products at the beginning of May.

We landed in Bilbao and rented a car to drive to Tudela, the city where most visitors to the Bardenas stay. It was spring, and the weather was a little rainy. We were praying to the universe for the rain to stop before our shooting days.

We woke up early on the first day of shooting and took the road to the desert. It was sunny. We were lucky.

There are several possible entrances to the Bardenas. We chose the one from Aguilares. What is great about this desert is that you can drive in with your car. We were almost alone, and everything was very quiet.

For me, it was quite spectacular, but not so much for Stephan, who had lived in LA and had visited much greater deserts. I was surprised by how green it was for a desert.
We were driving really slowly, looking for a spot to shoot.

Suddenly, I saw a fox — a zorro rojo — standing on the right side of the road, staring at us.
We stopped the car and got out slowly. He wasn't afraid. He just stood there, looking at us.

He looked exactly like the fox from a Wes Anderson movie! We stayed there for a while, just looking at each other. Then we left and continued our way into the desert.

Was it a sign?
